Fuji Edition is a rare collaboration between two of Japan’s most respected crafts: Senshudo, a distinguished Wajima lacquer atelier, and Nakata Hanger, which has been producing fine wooden hangers for over 70 years.

Each hanger is painstakingly carved from a single solid plank of wood, shaped by hand, and finished using traditional urushi lacquer techniques. What makes this hanger truly extraordinary is the maki-e design—an exquisite red depiction of Mount Fuji that glitters subtly in the light, delicately hand-painted by artisans using custom-made pigments.

This hanger is not only a work of art but a symbol of resilience. Following the devastating Noto earthquake on January 1st, 2024, which severely impacted the lacquer workshops and craftspeople of Wajima City, this project continues to support and preserve Japan’s most treasured lacquer tradition.
