Avel’s Leather Rejuvenator Cleaning Soap, formulated with purified glycerine, is a gentle yet powerful solution for cleaning and restoring smooth leather. Its non-aggressive, solvent-free formula effectively removes dirt, grease, and layers of wax from deep within the pores without staining or damaging the leather. Unlike traditional Marseille soaps that contain caustic soda, this formula is non-alkaline, making it safer for delicate finishes while thoroughly preparing leather for nourishing creams or pigmenting products. Completely colorless, it preserves the natural quality of leather while restoring its suppleness and appearance.
Application: Lightly moisten a clean sponge and apply the soap to the leather, focusing on heavily soiled areas. Rinse the sponge in warm water, wring it out, and reapply until the leather is fully clean. Once finished, rinse the sponge thoroughly and wipe the leather to remove any soap residue. Allow to air dry for a few minutes before buffing with a cotton cloth for a soft, polished finish. For optimal results, follow with a nourishing balm or cream, such as Saphir Renovateur, to restore oils and protect against drying or cracking.

Regular cleaning of leather shoes is essential to their long-term maintenance by preventing the buildup of waxes, resins, and dirt that can otherwise clog leather pores and cause cracking. Especially for those transitioning to Saphir Shoe Polish from ordinary polishes, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your shoes with Saphir Reno'Mat to remove any resins, wax buildup or petroleum products left by prior polishes. This ensures that the leather pores are open and able to fully absorb Saphir Medaille d'Or's high concentration of waxes and nourishing agents.
For regular cleaning of dirt buildup, we recommend the Saphir Leather Cleaning Soap. The gentle formulation is not overly aggressive and contains leather nourishing agents to help prevent the leather from drying. For more thorough cleaning, the Saphir Reno'Mat will remove any accumulated waxes or resins.
