The Alder has a very true-to-size fit. It is uncommon for someone to depart from their typical size, so we suggest you stick to your standard size. The opening of the shaft is small for a form-fit around your calf/upper ankle, but please note that once your foot is inside, there is plenty of room. The fit is not overly generous by any means, but more generous than narrow for a standard fitting model.
Note that on a boot with no laces, it is normal to feel heel movement, even with a perfect fit.
