The demands of a woman’s purse arguably could exceed that of men’s shoes. The day-to-day demands placed on a purse are high. They travel with women everywhere and often become soiled and stained. The below Chanel purse from my wife somehow became stained with what looks like some makeup. Cleaning a purse is much like cleaning a pair of shoes. You need to (1) clean the leather to remove any dirt or stains and (2) condition to keep the leather soft and supple.
The Saphir Shoe Polish is great for cleaning purses. In face, Saphir actually supplies many of their products directly to the workshops of Hermes in Paris and around the world for use in finishing and reconditioning of purses sent in for repair. Below is a simple THREE step process for cleaning more difficult stains from a purse. In the below picture, you can see what looks like some kind of makeup stain on the handle of my wife’s Chanel purse.
Step 1: Clean difficult-to-remove spots with the Saphir Reno’Mat Cleaner. This cleaner is very powerful and is appropriate only for spot-use on purses. It will remove anything that is not original to the leather and is excellent for difficult stains. Apply the Reno’Mat using a cotton chamois. Rub it into the leather until the stain has disappeared from the leather.
Step 2: Condition the leather using either the Saphir Renovateur or Saphir Leather Lotion. These two products are phenomenal leather cleaners and conditioners. Most importantly, they are like “liquid gold” for leather and provide deep nourishment to the leather that keep it soft and supple.
Step 3: After you are done applying the Saphir Renovateur, allow it a few minutes to dry and then buff it off using a horsehair brush or a soft cotton cloth. The buffing should produce a soft shine.
And there you go! Not only have you cleaned your purse, but renewed the leather. If you have any additional questions about this process, please email or call Customer Service and we’ll be happy to help.
Notes: Only use the Reno’Mat to remove difficult stains. If you are looking for general cleaning, use the Saphir Leather Cleaning Soap.
